The Commissioner Nagaland is the ex-officio director of Land Revenue Department. Revenue administration in the districts comes under the respective Deputy Commissioners, assisted by subordinate administrative officers. However, in Kohima and Dimapur, there is a separate Revenue Officer each in the rank of SDO (Civil). The activities of the land revenue department in the districts are confined mainly to the acquisition of land for the use of the state Government and the central Government agencies, eviction of persons in unauthorized occupation of public land and collection of land revenue. The Nagaland Land (Requisition and Acquisition) Act, 1965 is applicable in the entire State and all the Deputy Commissioners exercise the same authority as provided under the said Act for its implementation.
