District Administration

At present there are 16 (sixteen) district headquarters, 25 (twenty five) ADC (Additional Deputy Commissioner) sub-divisions, 18 (Eighteen) SDO Sub-Divisional Officer (Civil) sub-divisions and 63 (sixty three) EAC (Extra Assistant Commissioner) circles in the state.
In order to ensure safety and security of its citizens, the District Administration carries out security co-ordination meetings at the district level by the Deputy Commissioners and the same is relayed at a regular interval to the State Govt through the Commissioner, Nagaland.
Apart from law and order duties, revenue collection is also an important component of the district administration. The main sources of revenue comes from ILP fees, house taxes, arms license fees, general administration rest houses rentals, land revenue etc.
The District Administration is considered to be pivotal point of the government machinery to ensuring success of any government schemes and programs that the desired benefit accrues to the last man. It is the main agent in regulating, facilitating and delivery of services at the grass-root level. Therefore, it is that part of the government which is all the time visible to the people.
